Creating Template Files
-
If you keep on creating the same document layout or styles again and again just with different content, consider using a Template file.
How do you create one?- In Photo Shop just save the file as .PSDT format.
- In Microsoft Word just save the file as .DOTX format.
- In InDesign Choose >save as>In the file type dropdown, select the “InDesign cc Template” (InDesign will save the file in .INDT format).
- In Excel Choose >Save as >In the file type dropdown, select the “Excel template (.xltx)” option.
- In illustrator Choose File > Save As Template (llustrator saves the file in AIT format).

You open the template and when you save it will ask you to name it and will save as psd, the original template will remain untouched and ready to be opened again from scratch (except for the original stuff the template was saved with of course)
Its basically if your reusing documents a lot and saving it with “save as” (And sometimes forgetting and overwriting the file you didn’t want to touch), with this template method you don’t have to worry about it. -
illustrator is my choice
