Tip to Disable Fridge light or door lock for Shabbos
-
One of the things I always take along When I travel is toothpicks, toothpicks?
Yes,
If your hotel room has an electric lock, Erev Shabbos push in the tongue of the door lock, and push in a toothpick so to keep the tongue inside, then snap off the rest of the toothpick, make sure you don’t insert the toothpick to deep so you can still take it out after Shabbos.
The same I do in the fridge the light shouldn’t turn on, believe me it’s much easier then trying to tape down the tongue of the switch. -
Cool - but does the lock stay open - anyone can walk in my room?

When the choice is between staying locked in for the whole Shabbos then you lock away your valueless in the safe. (I am not talking if your traveling to Uzbekistan of course)
