@Hacker26 Wow, this looks like something amazing, but can you further explain what it is and how to work with it?
Use Gmail SMTP for my name@mydomain.co.uk
-
Hi
I’ve got a client which has the following setup:
He rents a domain and the domain includes for free to create email addresses, but he doesn’t have a email box with the host. The only thing it let’s you do, is putting a forward rule there so all the emails sent to that address will be forwarded to your gmail for example.
That works perfectly fine, however in order to send out emails from that address he needs a smtp server as he doesn’t have one with the host that hosts his domain. Until now he’s used gmail as a smtp (which I haven’t setup, so I don’t know how he did it)
Another intersting fact is that when you put this email address into the gmail web client it takes you to another gmail which also belongs to that client of mine. Basically he added an alternative email address to login to the (second) gmail account… (I don’t really think it matters for now…)
So my question is:
How can I send out an email from this name@mydomain.co.uk email address through a gmail smtp server? Like which password would I use to authenticate to that smtp?
If that isn’t possible what alternative is there to send out an email from this email address mentioned above?Answers are greatly appreciated!

I believe you can just add it as a Gmail Send As, and use the Gmail address’s creds for the SMTP login.
-
@Knaper-Yaden It asks you for a password as shown:
The trouble is that I don’t have login details for this username as it doesn’t have an smtp server… -
@Hacker26 if I’m not mistaken, this is password for the SMTP. This doesn’t have anything to do with the previous page and you should be able to enter your Gmail username and password.
-
correct you should just enter the login password
If it doesn’t work make sure that less secure access is on -

@Master @Knaper-Yaden I tried that but the error referrs to the email I inserted in the first window. I tried to use a gmail account to login
didn’t get it

@Hacker26 not sure what you’re saying… But your screenshot above seems to have the .uk address for the username. It’s supposed to be your Gmail address
-
@Knaper-Yaden I understand, but I tried my gmail address and it gave me a error as well.
-
did you turn on access for less secure apps?
-
@Master Yes indeed
-
@Hacker26 and I’m suppose to guess the error myself?..
It might be an account settings issue, try making sure SMTP is On (in the Gmail settings), less secure apps is On. And also try enabling 2FA and use an app password for this login.
-
@Knaper-Yaden SMTP is on? Where can I do that? I should try to enable 2FA…
-
@Hacker26 not sure what your questions are, please be more specific.
-
@Knaper-Yaden That was the error when 2FA was on
-
@Hacker26 you used the normal login password? You need to generate an App Password and use that.
